Run the teleprompter
Paste or type a script over the live preview, roll it at a comfortable pace, and tune the words for the presenter and room.
Show a script
- Open the editor. Click Prompt or press P.
- Paste or type the script. Plain text works best. Add short paragraph breaks where the presenter should breathe or change emphasis.
- Show the prompt. Click Show Prompt or press ⌘↩. To leave the existing prompt unchanged, click Cancel or press Esc.
The moving words do not accept mouse input, so the floating prompt controls and main toolbar remain responsive while the script rolls.
Roll, pause, and navigate
| Action | Control | Shortcut |
|---|---|---|
| Start or pause automatic movement | Roll / Pause | Space |
| Move manually | Scroll the prompt | ↑ / ↓ |
| Return to the beginning | Restart button | Home |
| Edit the current words | Pencil button | E |
| Open appearance controls | Text-size button | A |
| Hide without deleting | Close button | Esc |
Automatic speed ranges from 0.5× to 3.0×. Pressing either arrow key pauses the roll before moving manually. If a roll starts at the end, the prompt returns to the beginning.
Tune the appearance
Press A while the prompt is visible to adjust:
Words
Text size, text colour, line spacing, and left or centred alignment.
Contrast
Backdrop opacity plus shadow strength and shadow colour.
Use ⌘0 in the appearance controls to restore the default look. Speed and appearance are remembered between launches.
Script lifetime and clearing
The prompt text is kept only for the current app session; it is not written to the movie or stored as a persistent document. Hiding the prompt preserves the text so it can be shown again during that session.
In the editor, press ⌥⌘⌫ to clear the complete script. Use this deliberately: clearing removes the in-session copy.
Text, backdrop, controls, and scrolling are monitor overlays. None of them are burned into the HEVC video.
